Alirna Korieva was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and started her musical journey at the age of five. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance at Michigan State University under internationally acclaimed violinist Professor Dmitri Berlinsky, she holds a Bachelor’s degree from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and a Master’s degree from MSU. She has participated in numerous national and international music competitions, including first place in the Ahmet Zhubanov Competition in Almaty, Kazakhstan and the Grand Prize in the Alexander Glazunov International Competition of Violinists and Cellists in Paris, France. She has collaborated with various orchestras throughout Europe and the United States, and found her artistic home as a founding member of the Omnibus ensemble for Uzbek music. Alirna’s versatile portfolio spans classical, rock, pop, soul, jazz, and more. In 2023, she wowed at the Solstice Jazz Festival with MSU’s Salsa Verde, showcasing her genre-blending prowess. When she is not on stage, Alirna serves as a violin and voice teacher at the Okemos Music Academy and for the Marshall Music Company in Lansing.
